Coral Gables, FL - September 13, 2009 - Council #3274 once again sponsored the Habitat for Humanity Breakfast at the Church of the Little Flower helping program organizers thank those who have volunteered and providing a venue to inform others on how they can become involved.  "Our Council has sponsored this breakfast for a number of years," remarked Council Chancellor and Habitat for Humanity Program Co-chair Scott Rembold.  "I grew up in a small town and activities like these remind me of that; this is how we build community.  By supporting the Habitat effort at Little Flower our Council promotes volunteerism in much the same way that our Supreme Council has promoted volunteerism nationally through efforts like the new www.servicetogether.org (a Web site with resources for volunteers and volunteer organizations.)"  Juan Antunez, the Council's other Habitat for Humanity Program Co-chair noted, "This breakfast has become one the activities that our children look forward to participating in.  They like to see their Dad's doing good and they like being a part of that."  Scott and Juan are co-captains of the Habitat for Humanity workday on November 14.  All members interested in volunteering are encouraged to send an e-mail to Scott Rembold or Juan Antunez.

Coral Gables, FL – September 10, 2009 – The Coral Gables Council of the Knights of Columbus held the first in a series of dinners celebrating the “Year for Priests” in its Council Hall. “As soon as we heard about the Holy Father’s intention to call for a Year for Priests, our members began debating different ways to honor our priests,” explained Grand Knight Javier Maribona, “the idea that won out was simply to provide them with the opportunity to have an evening of relaxed conversation and good food in the company of their Brother Priests each month.” “We really enjoyed, planning, preparing , and serving a meal to these men who do so much for us and look forward to more priests attending next month and the four dinners scheduled for 2010,” remarked program Co-chair Adolfo Diaz. The Coral Gables Knights will host dinners in October 2009, and January, February, May, and June 2010.

Luncheon draws Knights of Columbus leaders from State and Supreme offices and more than 100 attendees to hear from local Respect Life leaders and show continued support.

The Knights of Columbus in Coral Gables have offered inner-city youths the opportunity to earn scholarships to attend a Catholic high school for the past nine years. "The current economic conditions do present special challenges, so our response was to add an additional scholarship this year. It has been more difficult raising the needed funds and we appreciate NBC6 giving us this opportunity to tell your viewers about our program." explained Egües who invited viewers to attend the Council's upcoming dinner/dance and silent auction on June 6 at the Council's Hall at 270 Catalonia in Coral Gables or support the Council's scholarship fund directly with tax-deductible donations.    Fr. Omar A. Huesca serves as Pastor for the St. Robert Bellarmine Parish.  He is fervently committed to the rediscovery and restoration of biblical fatherhood in the Church and society.  To this purpose, Fr.
