Knights to the Rescue

"The Archdiocese of Miami is closing schools and churches, but the Knights of Columbus are coming to the rescue...," remarked NBC 6's Bob Mayer as South Florida's most tenured television newscaster prepared to interview Past Grand Knight Ralph Egües for a South Florida Today segment calling attention to Council 3274's scholarship program. The Knights of Columbus in Coral Gables have offered inner-city youths the opportunity to earn scholarships to attend a Catholic high school for the past nine years. "The current economic conditions do present special challenges, so our response was to add an additional scholarship this year. It has been more difficult raising the needed funds and we appreciate NBC6 giving us this opportunity to tell your viewers about our program." explained Egües who invited viewers to attend the Council's upcoming dinner/dance and silent auction on June 6 at the Council's Hall at 270 Catalonia in Coral Gables or support the Council's scholarship fund directly with tax-deductible donations.
